Instruction:
- Try uninstalling any and all burning software if applicable,
- Go to start settings Control panel, system, device manager, uninstall any CDROM/DVD rom devices located there.
- Reboot the PC and see if it can read any cd's... Srcd's etc.
- If that fails try start, run, regedit,
- (Windows 2k/XP): HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
- ( Win 9x ) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Class\{4d36e965-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}
- Delete all values for upper and lower filters.
- Failing that, see if you can boot to a cd from outside of windows, aka SRCD's or OS CD.
- If that works, Windows repair install.
- If that fails, Reseat the drive cables and / or try moving the cable to a different controller on the board.
- If that also fails, RPL the drive or have customer purchase new drive if out of warranty.
